Known worldwide as the "Champagne of Teas," Darjeeling loose-leaf tea offers an unparalleled brewing experience. Grown exclusively in the high-altitude foothills of the Indian Himalayas, these teas are shaped by unique mountain mists, rich soils, and generations of harvesting expertise.
Every leaf in our organic Darjeeling collection is selected for its purity and vibrant character, bringing a truly sophisticated brew straight to your teacup.
What Makes Our Organic Darjeeling Loose Leaf Special?
True Darjeeling is unique because of its terroir—the region's specific climate and geography. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, our loose-leaf Darjeeling teas are grown naturally, without synthetic pesticides or chemicals, protecting the delicate mountain ecosystem and preserving the leaf's clean, complex notes.

Darjeeling Flushes
The time of year the tea is picked completely changes how it tastes. If you are exploring our collection, here is what to look out for:
First Flush (Spring Harvest)
Harvested in early spring after the winter dormancy. These leaves yield a light, bright, and highly aromatic brew with a beautiful pale golden colour. It features crisp, floral, and lively astringent notes—perfect for a refreshing morning cup.
Second Flush (Summer Harvest)
Picked in late spring and early summer. The leaves are deeper in colour and produce a rich, amber liquor. This harvest is famous for developing the classic, full-bodied Muscatel flavour profile, offering a smoother, rounder taste with subtle fruit undertones.
How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Darjeeling
To get the absolute best out of your organic loose leaf, a little precision goes a long way.
1. Water Temperature: Bring fresh water to 85°C-90°C. Avoid boiling water altogether, as it can scald the delicate first- or second-flush leaves and cause unwanted bitterness.
2. Measurement: Use 1 teaspoon (around 2g) of loose leaf per standard cup.
3. Steep Time: Let it infuse for 3-4 minutes. Watch the leaves unfurl.
4. Enjoy Pure: Authentic Darjeeling is best enjoyed clear without milk or sugar, allowing the complex floral and fruit notes to take centre stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Darjeeling tea a black or green tea?
While traditionally processed as a black tea, Darjeeling is often technically closer to an oolong. Because the high-altitude mountain air naturally withers the leaves and they are under-oxidised during processing, first-flush varieties, in particular, retain many green, vibrant characteristics.
Does Darjeeling tea contain caffeine?
Yes, Darjeeling contains a moderate amount of caffeine, similar to other black and oolong teas. It offers a gentle, sustained energy lift without the sharp crash often associated with coffee.
Why choose organic loose leaf over tea bags?
Standard tea bags often contain "fannings" or "dust"—the lowest grade of tea left over from processing. Whole leaf organic tea retains the essential oils within the leaf, delivering a vastly superior aroma, a deeper flavour, and the ability to be re-steeped safely without becoming overly bitter.
